Yes – We now have the largest range of electric vehicles to rent in the UK. We understand the importance in your decision to drive electric and our staff will ensure that your experience is tailored to provide you the reassurance required.

Our vehicles are credit hire vehicles not courtesy cars.

A courtesy car is a car provided free of charge, usually by the repairer or dealership and is likely to be what is available at the time.

Drivon provide a temporary replacement hire vehicle which does incur a cost, but we pay the charges upfront, which is why it is called credit hire, and then recover the costs from the at fault party’s insurer.

All our FAQs and documentation refer to “hire vehicles” rather than courtesy cars or vehicles for this reason.

We will always endeavour to provide a car that is the same (like for like), equivalent or as similar as possible to your own, subject to availability.

We will discuss the type of car available within the industry category grouping based on the age and type of vehicle involved in the road traffic incident we are providing a temporary replacement.

This will all be agreed with you prior to delivery.

Firstly, take all the precautions you would do with any accident and try to remain calm.

Ensure you get yourself and others to a place of safety. If needed call the emergency services.

Then, when you are safe, please call Drivon as soon as you can on +44 7910 411 199, so we can get help to you as soon as possible.

If you are able to take photos of the vehicles and circumstances, that would be very helpful, also any witness details and do exchange details with the third party involved.

If you are calling outside office hours, it will speed up response time if we put you directly in touch with one of our partners who can help immediately. You will need to identify the supplier that has provided the vehicle by referring to the key fob.

The vehicle needs to be returned in a reasonably clean condition to enable inspection. Any heavy soiling needs to be cleaned prior to returning the vehicle, failing which, you will be liable to pay a valeting charge to return the vehicle to a presentable condition.

Drivon vehicles are usually supplied full of fuel and you should refill the vehicle with the correct type of fuel to the level stated on the vehicle inspection report to avoid incurring a fuel and admin charge.

“Like for like” or “equivalent” is a broad description of our service.  We aim to provide you with a vehicle as close as possible or similar (if not the same) as your own. 

However, on occasions, we cannot do this for reasons such as discontinued models, specifications, availability etc. 

We always aim to provide you with the closest vehicle to your own based on the industry-standard vehicle groupings.

If you feel the vehicle provided is not appropriate for your needs, please contact us so we can see if there is anything we can do.

Before taking delivery of the vehicle we will have explained the category of vehicle we will be providing and this should be a vehicle which meets your needs.

Please note that you remain liable for any loss of or damage to the vehicle caused by a person who you allow to use the vehicle but who is not authorised by us to use the vehicle.

Yes, but please note that you are responsible for the condition of the vehicle at the end of the hire and you should therefore ensure that it is sufficiently cleaned at the end of the hire to avoid incurring a valeting charge required to return the vehicle to a presentable condition.

No. Smoking (or any form of smoking substitutes such as vaping) is not permitted in any of our vehicles.

You are legally responsible for the hire charges, but we will claim them on your behalf from the fault party. If we are not able to recover the hire charges from the fault party, provided you have complied with the terms of the rental agreement (which includes co-operating with us throughout your claim), the hire charges will be written off. This means that the hire charges are what lawyers call a “contingent liability” – or, in simple terms, on a “no win, no fee basis”. On condition that you comply with the rental agreement, your liability is limited to the charges recovered from the fault party.

Insurers will not pay the VAT element of your losses if you are VAT-registered. This is because you can recover the VAT element in your tax return (and therefore the VAT element does not constitute a loss).

MET AN ACCIDENT AND ISN’T YOUR FAULT?

We will take care of removing it from the accident scene and transport it to a safe storage facility. Meanwhile, we will provide you with a replacement vehicle while your own is off the road. If you authorise us, we can even have your car repaired by our network of approved body shops, giving you peace of mind knowing it’s in good hands.
